Yerba Maté: Tea of the Gods Revered by the Guarani Indians of South America as "the drink of the gods", Yerba Maté (Ilex paraguariensis, a member of the evergreen holly family) is today esteemed as the "national drink" of Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina.
