Whey to Go! Over the years the Co-op has stocked whey powder from a variety of sources. To be honest, we have not been completely happy with the product in the past as we have not been able to verify its purity. However, thanks to some thorough research by Lori Sturtz, we have now sourced a whey powder that we're confident will provide members with the health benefits they expect from a guaranteed 100 per cent pure whey protein. Whey proteins offer an excellent combination of protein quality, a rich concentration of branch-chain amino acids and low levels of fat and lactose. Designer Physique Whey Protein Isolate is a premium pure and natural protein powder suitable for men and women, the elderly, vegetarians, vegans and athletes who want to increase their protein intake. The Isolate is produced using high-quality micro- and ultra-filtration extraction processes that maintain the protein quality. Designer Physique claims that its whey isolate contains one of the highest protein concentrations and lowest fat and carbohydrate levels of any available protein products. The Co-op is also stocking the Whey Protein Concentrate. This is similar to the Isolate, but it excludes the micro-filtration process and thus is a little cheaper. It is ideal for people who are looking for a good-quality, economical protein powder. The Isolate sells for $5.40 per 100 grams, while the Concentrate costs $3.20 per 100 grams (members receive five per cent discount).
