Amazing Olive Leaf Extract
By Di Fogarty
Despite a wealth of anecdotal evidence indicating its
efficacy for the treatment of a multitude of conditions, the medicinal
uses of olive leaf extract received little attention in medical circles
until recently.
Oleuropein, the powerful germ-killer in olive leaf extract, has been
used as a cure-all for thousands of years in the Mediterranean region.
Oleuropean is a phenolic compound and the source of the disease-resistant
characteristics of the olive tree. Herbalists have long recognised its
remedial properties as an effective, safe and remarkable all-natural
healer of microbial infections.
Olive leaf extract is reported to strengthen the immune system; soothe
sore throats; assist with sinusitis, bronchitis and pneumonia; reduce
symptoms of Lyme disease, chronic fatigue syndrome, yeast syndrome,
fibromyalgia, athlete's foot and jock itch; aid in treatment of malaria;
and combat a variety of viral diseases.
Taken in capsules, tablets or as a liquid supplement, olive leaf extract's
antimicrobial effects are potent, and cold or flu symptoms are said
to disappear in a day.
The Co-op stocks an extensive range of olive leaf products, including
liquid formulas for both adults and children, as well as capsules. Rochway
has two delicious Probiotic Punches, available in Ginger and Olive Leaf,
and Blueberry and Paw Paw.
Give olive leaf extract a try this winter and nip cold and flu symptoms
in the bud.
