Our community has been tested as never before since that day when Cornerstone called in the Deen Brothers to do a demolition job on vegetation in the proposed Woolworths supermarket site.

Most of you will have been following the coverage in the Range News, and we certainly don't have room to report on all the news to date (or have a crystal ball to see into the near future). Lori's "Accidental Activism" story highlights important details in the protest against Woolies coming to Maleny and on that particular site. We could only include a sampling of b&w photos, so suggest you check out Lori's colourful photo collages on display at the Co-op and Platypus Embassy.

We can take some encouragement from US organics activists whose protest against the USDA's revised, watered-down organics standards forced a government backdown – despite the pressure from agritech and biotech giants that saw the growing market for organics as a direct threat to their bottom line (see Organics News).

Positive change cannot come about unless we try. So keep on keeping active!

Ruth
