Wood Expo Needs You!

The Maleny Wood Expo, 'From Chainsaw to Fine Furniture', is back on in 2008, so set aside Saturday and Sunday 3-4 May (Labour Day weekend) for a rewarding and fun time. Barung Landcare is now in partnership with Caloundra City Council to host the event, so it's going to be bigger and better than ever. Mim Coulstock, coordinator of the expo for the past nine years, is on much-deserved long service leave, so this year Steve McLeish and Jane Williamson will head the team. Both have extensive experience working with the Expo, and their skills and expertise will no doubt ensure a smooth and successful show this year. For the Expo to work, Barung needs more than 150 volunteers to contribute about four hours each, so if you would like to help out before, during or after the event, they would love to have you.

Volunteer roles are as follows:
• Pre-Expo - set up, erecting tents, signage, etc.
• Pre-Expo raffle ticket sellers - particularly over the Easter Weekend and during the Expo.
• Ongoing administration support.
• Transport of tents and other donated goods, p/u and return.
• Traffic control and parking - ever wanted to be a traffic controller? Try it out over the two days of the event.
• Admission ticket sellers - meet and greet over the two days of the Expo.
• Assistance for site manager - general maintenance and troubleshooting.
• After the Expo - pull down and clean up so we leave the Showgrounds the way we found them.

All volunteers receive free entry into the Expo, a coffee voucher and two free trees from Barung's nursery to thank you for your time. You also get to see beautiful furniture, watch chainsaw artisans at work, eat great food and meet some wonderful people.
