Co-op News From "Maple Street Co-op News", April/May 2008 "Manager's Update" By Alan Harrington, General Manager With the Easter period over for another year, the Club and the Co-op have had one of their busiest periods ever. The Club in particular had a record Easter, and I would like to thank all the staff for the terrific effort they put in. Club Operations Manager, Kelly Robson has referred to various requirements under Club and liquor licensing laws. I would urge members and their guests to comply with these requirements, as any breach can result in significant fines. The Co-op Board of Directors is close to finalising the change in the nature of the liquor licence, which should facilitate Club operations, including wining and dining at the tables on the street front. Under existing liquor licensing laws, it is essential that no alcohol be consumed other than on the prescribed premises. What this means is, no consumption of alcohol on the street. Breaches of this regulation can result in the Club losing its licence. Therefore, any member in breach of this requirement will be banned. Members are reminded that The UpFront Club staffers have specific responsibilities under the Liquor Act, and it is essential that members and their guests comply with their instructions. In recent weeks, some members would have received letters indicating that they may not be financial. If you think you are financial (you will have a green card) please let me know so I can correct the share register. Please note that it is a legal requirement for the Co-op and the Club to establish those members who are not financial, as it is necessary to cancel those memberships. Otherwise, if you wish to renew your membership, please come in and see any Co-op staff member. The Directors are in the course of planning a Co-op and Club strategy meeting for later in the year and members will be given further details as soon as a program has been finalised. Finally, I'd like to welcome staffer Lori Sturtz and massage supremo Mark O'Brien back after their very relaxing and enjoyable six weeks in Thailand.
